Keukenhof Tulip Fields
Laura and I made it out to the tulip fields about an hour outside of the city depending on your method of transportation. They have a whole park filled with a huge variety of tulips and other kinds of flowers. It was very touristy but definitely worth the trip out there! We made it at the end of the tulip season so there weren’t a ton of fields still around but we rented bikes and roamed the countryside regardless.
We found ourselves on a 10-12 mile loops, not exactly sure of the length because the map we had was not very good….we only got lost a couple of times. :) We had lunch by a lake which was nice and tourist free. We also got to ride past the sand dunes which is not something I was expecting to see. Our last obstacle was finding our way through this park where they were raising wild turkeys – we luckily made it through without a turkey sighting. It was all worth it in the end because we found a gorgeous field of coral colored tulips. It was a fantastic and tiring day!
