Last Day in NYC

Well our adventure in NYC has come to a close. We had such an amazing time seeing so many different aspects of the city. There is far more than can be explored even in a week. We definitely expect to make it back here in the future!

Yesterday we had a low key day with not too much to share. We took a walk around Roosevelt Island and saw a cat sanctuary, lots of geese and the FDR Memorial.

Last night we saw the huge super moon which was so cool to see from our vantage point. The was no way our pictures could do it justice but I want to share a few I saw online.

Today we had a lovely day going to the Meatpacking District. There is a special exhibit called The Great Elephant Migration: a coexistence story. I encourage you to check out the website because I can’t do the story and meaning justice here. The sculptures were created by The Coexistence Collective, a community of 200 indigenous artisans in the Nilgiri Hills of South India. They are made from lantana camara, an invasive weed that encroaches on wildlife habitat. The exhibit promotes human-wildlife coexistence as a solution to biodiversity loss. The heard is literally traveling across the country to make an impact. It was one of the coolest public exhibits I’ve gotten to see.

After we walked among the elephants we made our way to The Whitney Museum of American Art. I’ve not gotten to go to this museum in the past and it was such a fun way to spend our last afternoon. There were some great exhibits, particularly one that explored the relationship between art, AI and culture today. There were so many pieces to see and while I took many photographs these are just a sample of all the work to be admired.

Tomorrow Brett will fly home to our fur babies while I am on my way to Dallas/Fort Worth, TX. I will be there for Pinners conference which is basically a giant conference for people who love to craft. It will be 2 days of trying out a bunch of different crafts before I head back to CO. Thank you for reading and following us along our adventure!!
