Omaha, NE

Welcome to Nebraska

We had a lovely drive out to Omaha to visit Brett’s family.  The weather turned out to be quite nice!  No rain, no wind, not much humidity, and most importantly no tornados!

On our way to Omaha we stopped at a special butcher shop, Blue River Meats in Crete, NE.  There we picked up 20 specially made packages of Czech Jaternice sausage.  We also got a bundle of steaks with a variety of cuts and 2lbs of beautiful bacon!  Jaternice is a special treat and Brett’s family favorite!

We had a wonderful time meeting and visiting with family!  Everyone was so nice and I especially enjoyed being able to meet Nana and Papa.  You can tell how close all of Brett’s family is and I am grateful to be part of it!  Brett’s cousin Cassie arranged for some family photos which is something I know we will cherrish for years to come.

Besides visiting with family we at A LOT of fantastic food while we were there.  Pizza that’s almost too big to fit on your lap, HUGE burgers from King Kong, amazing gyros from an authentic greek restraunt.  Brett’s Mom even took the time to make these traditional Czech rolls called Rohliky. We also went to the Omaha Zoo one day which was awesome! It is one of the best zoos in the US and it certainly lived up to that reputation!  It has everything you could think of – desert, jungle, aquarium, gorilla house, artic animals.  We even got the opportunity to pet a bunch of stingrays!  Overall it was a fantastic trip and I’m excited to go back!
