Early Bird Camping

On April 6th Brett and I set out on our 8 hour drive from Boulder to Cortez to spend some time with my Dad.  In addition to seeing my Dad we decided to take advantage of the nice weather in southern Colorado to do some early bird camping!  We’ve been investing in some camping gear lately, and Brett just finished giving the Tacoma (Kandi) some beautiful upgrades so we wanted to give it all a test run.

We were so fortunate to have gorgeous weather and only one night of rain. The rain actually made out to be quite an awesome night. Listening to the rain on the topper and watching the lightning burst across the valley made for an unforgettable evening.

I have my own camping kitchen setup which has worked out nicely!  We are truly a Yeti family with our coolers, cups and gear!  It was amazing to sit in our chairs, sip our coffee, and take in the early morning.  Most amazing of all was how peaceful it was and how wonderful it was to be away from the busy lives we have back in Boulder.

We are very much looking forward to more camping and off-roading adventures!
